Today we spent the morning in the wildlife area. We had great fun looking for different bugs, plants and pond life. Some of us did some digging, used the binoculars, played in the dens and made our own den.

We were so disappointed that we couldn't have sports day on Monday but we are looking forward to next Monday and hoping that it doesn't rain again!
We have been reading the story of Handa's Surprise and looking at all the healthy fruit in Handa's basket.
On Monday we we helped to cut up different types of fruit and make our own fruit salads. Everyone tried at least 1 thing in their cup. On Tuesday we continued to look at different fruits and then we made fruit smoothies-Yummy!
We have also been making nests for our dinosaur eggs, we have used straw and wool so our eggs are nice and comfy.
Some of us have been using the craft straws to make dinosaur skeletons too!

This week we have been reading about dinosaurs and finding out some facts. We measured the length of 2 dinosaurs and laid down to see how many of us would fill them.
The Apatosaurus was 9 metres long and it took 8 of us, the Stegosaurus was 23 metres long, it took all of our class and 4 from green class!
We found some dinosaurs frozen in ice. We found different ways to get them out. Some of us used warm water, some hit the ice with a stick and some of us threw them on the floor. We saved the dinosaurs!
Outside there was a fossil dig. We used the brushes to brush the sand away and then used the magnifying glasses to look carefully at what we had found. Some of us used the book to see if we could find the dinosaur in it.
We all painted our eggs this week. Next week we are going to think about food for dinosaurs and make a nest for the eggs.

The children were met with a treat on Monday morning, a volcano cave had appeared in the classroom over the half term holiday and a dinosaur dig.
We noticed that a piece of string had been put at the back of the field so we went to investigate, we couldn't believe it when we saw a dinosaur nest and eggs, it was amazing!
We made signs to make sure people kept out and didn't touch them, someone sent a letter to warn orange and green classes.
On Tuesday we went to check on the eggs and discovered a letter from the Mummy dinosaur, she said we could keep her eggs in our classroom but we must be really gentle with them so that they do not break. Jake carefully carried them back and put them in the volcano cave.
